Most of us assume that if our basic needs are met and the people around us think well of us, we should feel settled. Food, shelter, work, and a few people who love us ought to be enough. Yet sooner or later nearly everyone asks, "Is that it? There has to be something more."
Scripture says that question is not a defect. It is a clue.
Why? is a Bible study on meaning, purpose, and the questions science cannot answer. It is built on Ecclesiastes 3:11, where God sets eternity in the human heart, and on Paul's words in Acts 17 that God made us to seek Him. The story comes from a trained scientist and former atheist who compares a cockroach, which needs only food, shelter, and the chance to reproduce, with human beings, who keep asking why they exist.
The study does not set science against faith or treat science as the enemy. It respects what science does well and says plainly where it stops. It does not claim to prove God exists. It shows what the Bible says about our hunger for meaning and invites the reader to seek God rather than only ask questions about Him.
This study explores:
● why science can explain our hunger for meaning but cannot tell us whether our lives matter
● how looking to other people for proof of our worth leaves us unsettled
● what it means that God called Israel precious before they had earned anything
● what is left of who we are when our accomplishments are taken away, as Job learned
● why temporal things never fill the eternity God set in the human heart
● how Paul met the searching people of Athens where they were
● the difference between asking questions about God and seeking Him with your whole heart
