Living Forward
Some lives follow a clear and predictable path. Others seem to be made up of detours, restarts, failures, relocations, and seasons that make sense only much later.
Living Forward is a Bible study for people who wonder whether they started too late, wandered too far, or wasted too much time for God to use their story.
Drawing from Philippians 3, Psalm 139, Proverbs 3, and a personal account of decades spent moving through different countries, careers, ministries, and responsibilities, the study explores how God can use even the seasons we did not understand.
The central message is not that every decision was right or every path was ordained. It is that God is patient, sovereign, and capable of using imperfect lives. The wandering years may not have been detours. They may have been the classroom.
Going forward does not always mean moving faster, achieving more, or starting over again. Sometimes it means staying where God has placed us, surrendering our plans, listening closely, and taking the next faithful step.
This study explores:
how God can work through seasons that once felt wasted
why providence does not require a perfect life story
how past experiences can prepare believers for future ministry
why impatience can disguise itself as obedience
the difference between activity and spiritual progress
why the past may explain us without defining us
what it means to press forward in Christ
how surrender differs from self-directed ambition
why trust, not willpower, is the foundation of faithful progress
This Bible study includes:
a complete printable Bible study
Scripture-based teaching
a detailed personal testimony
reflection and group discussion questions
practical application exercises
a closing prayer
leader guidance for group use
PowerPoint presentation for teaching
Best for:
personal Bible study
adults in transition
people questioning their calling or purpose
late-life ministry and vocational discernment
discipleship and mentoring
small groups and Sunday school
Christians carrying regret about their past
believers learning to trust God’s timing
Estimated study time: 60–90 minutes for group study or 30–45 minutes for personal study.
